La Artillería puts you in the middle of Getsemaní, the colorful former working-class quarter that is now Cartagena’s favorite place to go out. Plaza de la Trinidad, with its street musicians and evening crowds, is three minutes away; the old town gates and the Clock Tower about ten. The hotel itself is a calm retreat: around two dozen compact, air-conditioned rooms, an outdoor pool with a bar, a rooftop terrace and breakfast in the morning. Rooms are on the small side – you come here for the location and the pool.
