Where to stay in Pattaya

LK Metro & Soi Buakhao

The heart of central Pattaya: bars, cheap restaurants and the Buakhao market, with many guest-friendly hotels. About 10 minutes on foot to the beach.

Soi 6 & Second Road

Famous bar street between Beach Road and Second Road, close to Central Festival and Terminal 21.

Beach Road

Along the sea, with the sois (side streets) 7 and 8 full of bars. Convenient but often loud.

Walking Street & South Pattaya

Pattaya’s biggest nightlife strip with clubs and bars until late. Ideal on foot, noisy at night.

Jomtien & North Pattaya

Quieter: Jomtien Beach in the south, North Pattaya and Naklua in the north. Good if you want to sleep away from the party.

Smart & safe: tips for bringing a guest

  1. Your visitor will usually leave their Thai ID card or passport at reception and get it back when they leave. This protects you and the hotel.
  2. Only bring guests you know are adults (18+). Thailand prosecutes the exploitation of minors very strictly, and hotels check IDs.
  3. Lock cash, passport and valuables in the room safe before your guest arrives.
  4. Never accept a drink you did not see being prepared, and agree on any price before, not after.
  5. Use Grab or Bolt, or the baht bus (songthaew) – agree the fare first for private rides.

Frequently asked questions

What is a joiner fee in Pattaya?

A joiner fee is a charge some Pattaya hotels add when you bring a visitor who is not registered on your booking – typically a few hundred to over a thousand baht. The hotels on this page are reported to waive it for one visitor at a time.

What does “guest-friendly hotel” mean?

A guest-friendly hotel lets you bring a visitor to your room without charging a joiner fee or making you book a double room. Visitors usually leave their ID at the front desk.

Does my visitor need an ID in Pattaya?

Yes. In Thailand the visitor’s ID card or passport is usually kept at reception while they are in the hotel and returned when they leave. Visitors must be adults (18+).

Can my visitor stay overnight?

Often yes. Some hotels allow one overnight visitor free of charge and charge for additional people. Each hotel page shows whether overnight stays are confirmed.

Which area of Pattaya is best for guest-friendly hotels?

LK Metro and Soi Buakhao for the most choice and good prices, Soi 6 and Second Road for a central location, Walking Street if you want the nightlife on foot, and Jomtien or North Pattaya if you prefer it quieter.

How do I know a hotel is really guest-friendly?

Look at the guest policy, the verification level and the “Guest check” on each hotel page: it shows how many travelers were able to bring a visitor without problems. After your stay, add your own review.
